Fred, a member of the 1st Minnesota Battery, writes about his experience at the Battle of Shiloh, daily camp life, his feelings on the Emancipation Proclamation, and in finding out that the recent death of a soldier from the 1st Kansas regiment, revealed that the soldier was actually a woman who had been posing as a soldier for nearly two years.
