This is a letter addressed to Lewis Allen Alderson, a student in Athens, Ohio, from John Abney North in Lewisburg, (West) Virginia. North is seeking repayment for debts accrued by George Kelly. Alderson later moved to Atchison, Kansas, in 1858 and was a prominent Baptist minister. He died in Atchison in 1881.
