This is a studio portrait of Peter Thoes, who was one of the earliest settlers in Wabaunsee County, and his family in Alma, Kansas. Peter Thoes married Caroline Ernstine Dieboll on January 19, 1862. Four of their five children are pictured including, from left to right, Hulda, Albert, Ernest, and Olga.
