This is a photograph showing Kansas Governor Alfred Mossman Landon riding a horse across a creek. Landon served as Kansas Governor from January 9,1933 to January 11, 1937. The photograph was possibly taken in 1936 when Landon, a Republican, challenged President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the United States presidential election. Landon was defeated by a wide margin; however, after the election, Landon continued as an adviser for the Republican Party.
