This side notched dart point was recovered from Elk County and donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1959. It is possibly made from Foraker chert, a type of chert found often in northeast Kansas. Dart points were attached to the fore shaft of a throwing spear and propelled by using a spear thrower or atlatl.
