This is a photograph showing four generations of the Southwick family. Millard F. Southwick (left) and either Frank or Harry is standing on the right. The Millard F. Southwick family came to Topeka from New York in 1892, and moved into a two story house at 427 Topeka Avenue. The house was built on property owned in part by Cyrus Holliday, had 12 rooms and contained 3,952 square feet of finished space. Millard, a banker, and his wife Ella Rice Southwick had three children: Harry H., Frank S., and Laura. Harry apparently worked for his father as a bookkeeper at the Citizens State Bank for a short time before going into the automotive supply business with his brother Frank. Southwick Automotive was located at 1324 S. Kansas Avenue.
