This 1869 view of Alma shows few buildings in the town. This view is from the northeast looking to the southwest. The large white building left of center is the Winkler Hotel, which was located at 224 Missouri Street. Across the street is the Schmitz and Meyer Store and the Kaufman building, which was the first courthouse in Alma. A log rail holding pen for livestock is right center.
