This correspondence includes letters received by the Kansas Adjutant General on a variety of topics. Many letters inform the state of the enrollment of militia companies, especially in response to a circular sent by Governor George Anthony on enrollment in accordance with state law. Requests for information on filing claims for pay or property damage are also included. Many of the letters are addressed to the governor. The adjutant general was H. T. Beman. Advertisements from arms manufacturers, such as the Gatlin Gun Company and others, are also present.
