This is a photograph showing the interior of Mitchell Brothers meat market in Valley Falls, Kansas. James Rayman Mitchell, who started the business and named it Mitchell Meat Market, is the third person from the left and the man wearing an apron is probably one of his sons. When James Rayman Mitchell retired, he turned the business over to his sons. In August of 1910, son Henry Hiram Mitchell sold his part of the business to his brothers Everest S. Mitchell and James Wiley Mitchell and they changed the name to Mitchell Brothers.

This jug was excavated in 1991 by Kansas Historical Society archeologists during investigations at the Johnson/Palmore Restaurant site in Manhattan, Kansas. The site was at various times home to a restaurant, stores, office, the State Highway Commission office, a bottling plant, and an automobile alignment shop. This jug was recovered from a trash feature associated with the property's use as a restaurant.

This photograph shows the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company depot in Osage City, Kansas. The combination depot was built between 1911 and 1912, is designed in the Mission Spanish Revival style, and features a brick and stucco exterior. The depot was part of the Eastern Lines, Eastern Division, First District at milepost 85.1. The one-story structure was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 11, 1989. The depot no longer provides rail service but houses the Osage County Railroad and Mining Museum.

This is a photograph showing Lourah Frances King posed in front of Howard Athon's airplane, taken November 3,1929, at Mount Pleasant Church Quenemo. The family was gathering to celebrate the 62nd wedding anniversary of Aaron Lane and Sarah Lanning, along with Aaron's birthday. Howard, Roberta, Merrill, and Bob flew from Topeka in their airplane to be at the event, as recounted in the Lyndon People's Herald, November 7, 1929.
